Rome is the capital of Italy. Rome is located in the Lazio region of central Italy on the Tiber river. The population is about 2.7 million residents in 1,285.3 km2.

 

Italian is the main language or Rome, but there are also many people who speak English, French and other languages. The euro is the official currency in Rome. In Rome there are five patrons: Lawrence, Martina, Paul, the Apostole Peter and the Apostole Philip Neri.

 

The main natonial holidays in Italy are: Easter Monday on 21th April, Liberation day on 25th April, Labor day on 1th  May, Republic's day on 2th June, Assumption on 15th of August, Immaculate Conception on 8th December, Christmas Day on 25th December and St Stephen's Day on 26th December.

 

As regards temperatures, July is the hottest month with an average temperature of 24°C and the coldest is January at 8°C with the most daily sunshine hours at 14 in July. The wettest month is November with an average of 130mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in August when the average sea temperature is 26°C. The best time to visit Rome is in summer in June or August.
