DESCRIPTION:

The capital is Siena, the city is in the centre of Italy, in the Tuscany region. It lies about 48 km south of Florence. The population of Siena is about 52,774 people.

 

The official language in Siena is Italian. The euro is the official currency in Siena. There is only one Patron in Siena: St.Bernardino.

 

The main natonial holidays in Siena are: on 2th July and on 16th August Palio horserace, All Saints on 1st November, Saints Peter and Paul on 29th June, Assumption on 15th August, Immaculate Conception on 8th December, Christmas Day on 25th December and St Stephen's Day on 26th December, on 1st January the New Year's Day, on 2nd the Republic Day, on 6th January the Epiphany, on 21st April the Easter Monday and on 25th April the Liberation Day.

 

As regards temperatures, June is the hottest month in Siena. The Summertime in Siena rarely gets as hot and sticky as other parts of the country, peaking around 31°C. In the winter it is usually the harshest cold, with temperatures around 10°C. The wettest month is October with an average of 125mm of rain. The best time to visit Siena is in summer in June or August.
